Good morning everyone! I’m excited to announce my first giveaway where you can win $75 in cash or Amazon vouchers! If you’re interested, be sure to check out my guest post on Daily Money Shot where I share the story of my stolen piano, among other robberies, and offer some tips on staying safe while traveling.
Jana, the amazing blogger behind Daily Money Shot, is also my mentor in the Bloggers Helping Bloggers program.
Today, I’ve teamed up with other bloggers to talk about gratitude. With Thanksgiving around the corner, many people are thinking about what they’re thankful for. Although I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s a good opportunity to reflect on the good things in life. Here’s what I’m thankful for:
HEALTH
My health is one of my most valuable assets. Except for the occasional flu and a bout with a tropical disease called bilharzia, I’ve been very healthy. I have all my limbs, no asthma, allergies, eczema, or other chronic conditions. It’s easy to take health for granted until it’s compromised, so I try to remind myself often how fortunate I am.
FAMILY
I come from a large family, so there’s always someone to talk to. My grandparents are aging but still sharp, which is a great comfort. I have a beautiful little niece and a very cool 15-year-old brother who hasn’t become a typical rebellious teenager yet. My family is supportive of my life choices and lets me live freely, which is the ultimate proof of their love.
FREEDOM
I was born in a free country and every day I wake up and do what I want. Not everyone has this privilege, and I’m grateful for those who fought for our freedom. I’ve lived 32 years without knowing war, fear of invasion, or human rights restrictions.
FRIENDS
My friends have been amazing, sticking with me over the last 10 years even though I was often far away. While my circle of friends is small, they are incredibly loyal and supportive, and I know I can rely on them anytime.
BLOGGING
I’m so thankful I started blogging four months ago. After spending five years reading personal finance, lifestyle, and travel blogs, it’s much more rewarding to actively participate in the blogging community. I’ve met many amazing people who have shared their insights and helped me with my blog, finances, and life goals, broadening my perspective.
HOUSING
I’m grateful to have a roof over my head. After two years of traveling, it’s nice to have a place to settle down. Things have turned out well so quickly—I already have electricity and running water, a safe home, and plenty of furniture left by the previous owner, saving me money on new items.
MONEY
I’m thankful that I don’t have to worry about money daily. I can comfortably put food on the table and pay my bills without stress. I’m also grateful to have graduated college debt-free and started investing early, allowing me to live an amazing lifestyle at a young age.
FOOD
Guatemala is a paradise for food lovers. With its eternal spring-like climate, you can find strawberries, watermelons, blackberries, and peaches all year round. Avocados are plentiful, and the meat is tender and juicy. Eggs are free-range, and everything tastes as it should—all at reasonable prices. I’m thankful to enjoy such delicious food every day.
